Biography And Filmography:
Chace Crawford, the young energetic actor seen on the hit television
series "Gossip Girls", was not even interested in acting until
he was in his late teens. Chace was born on July 18, 1985 in
Lubbock, Texas to Chris and Dana, his father is a
dermatologist, and his mother is a school teacher. He has one younger
sister, Candice, who has studied broadcasting and journalism at the
University of Missouri in Columbia, and also appeared in the 2008 Miss
USA pageant as Miss Missouri. He graduated from the Trinity Christian
Academy in 2003.
While attending Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, he decided to try his hand at acting with the hopes of starting a Hollywood career. He found a talent agent and manager and began auditioning for television commercials and print advertising. After switching his major to Drama, and focusing on his acting classes, he realized he wanted to be an actor and started actively pursuing his Hollywood dreams. Crawford's first big television break was in the mystery drama "Long Lost Son" (2006), about a woman who discovers the son she thought had drowned is alive and well, living with the man who kidnapped him. He also got his first supporting movie role that year, as Tyler Simms, in the action horror thriller "The Covenant" (2006), where four young men who belong to a supernatural legacy are forced to battle a fifth power long thought to have died out. The actor had arrived in Hollywood, and executives and movie producers were taking note of his acting talents and good looks. After taking a year off to regroup and focus on his acting lessons, he was hired and cast in the supporting role of Hayden Price in the crime thriller "Loaded" (2008), starring Jesse Metcalfe, about a young, wealthy club kid's life that spirals downward into an out-of-control world of drugs, sex and violence. After a guest appearance on the hit animated comedy "Family Guy", Chace was cast in the role that would shoot him into sexy Hollywood celebrity status. His career had started to take off. In 2007, he took the television role that would change his career forever, portraying young Nate Archibald in 23 episodes of the hit series "Gossip Girl" (2007-), also starring Blake Lively, Kristen Bell and Taylor Momsen, in the story of privileged teenagers who attend an elite private school in New York City, and based on Alloy Entertainment's novel series. Hollywood was taking notice of Crawford and wanted him in their movies.
He the got another big-screen break playing the supporting role of Joseph Young in the thriller "The Haunting Of Molly Hartley" (2008), starring Haley Bennett, the story of Molly Hartley, who is a seventeen-year-old girl who recently moved to a new town for a fresh start after her mother's terrifying psychotic breakdown. While struggling to find her place in the cliques at her new private school, she becomes haunted by disturbing visions and voices that expose a dark secret from her past. The young man was now in the Hollywood celebrity limelight, and subject to all the bad things that can go along with being a public personality. Chace, and his sex life, became a favorite topic with tabloids and gossip blogs, especially when he dated 2005’s “American Idol” winner and country music singer Carrie Underwood during 2008. There were also rumors that the actor was in a gay relationship with NSYNC singer J.C. Chasez due to the amount of time the two were seen together in public. Crawford and Underwood broke up in April 2008, again fueling the rumor mill that he was gay. Watch Chace Crawford In "The Haunting Of Molly Hartley" Movie Trailer
