Biography And Filmography: Drew Seeley was born on April 30, 1982 in Ottawa,
Ontario Canada, and is a successful song writer, singer, dancer, and accomplished
actor. Most of his roles have been associated with the movie powerhouse Walt Disney, who has worked hard promoting the young actor. He is best known as one of the ensemble cast
members, and singing voices in the “High School
Musical” movie franchise. A bit of trivia few people are aware of is
while most audience members believed it was Zac Efron belting out most
of the songs, it has been leaked that it was in fact Seeley's
voice blended with Zac's.
He has written and performed on numerous albums including DisneyMania 4, The Cheetah Girls 2, High School Musical, DisneyMania 5, Radio Disney Jams 9, and High School Musical: The Concert. The singer also fronted the national Rhythm & Blues concert act, "Nu Ground" from 1999-2002, released a CD, and toured. He also took over the role of Troy in the “High School Musical: The Concert” while Zac Efron was shooting “Hairspray”. The musician got his first big television break in 2000, when he was hired and cast for the role of Andrew in the hit soap opera "The Guiding Light", before making guest appearances on the television series "Dawson's Creek" with Katie Holmes and James Van Der Beek, "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and "One Tree Hill" with Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray. He then took a small supporting role in the television family movie comedy "Stuck In The Suburbs" (2004), with Brenda Song, about a young teenager who is bored with her quiet suburban life, but finds excitement when her phone is switched with the phone of Jordan Cahill, the top teen pop singer who has come to her town to make a music video. In 2005, Andrew took another supporting role in the television sci-fi flick "Locusts" (2005), working alongside Lucy Lawless, where an investigator for the Department of Agriculture is the only person who can protect America from a deadly breed of bio-engineered locusts.
The young actor got his first big Hollywood feature break in the co-starring role of Stearns in the comedy "Complete Guide To Guys" (2006), based on Dave Barry's novel that tries to follow the stereotypes of male behavior from the stone ages to modern times. The movie was a huge success and propelled the actor into the Hollywood spotlight. Audiences and critics adored the young actor, and Hollywood wanted more of the multi-talented Hollywood star. Andrew then appeared in an independent comedy short film in the co-starring role of Tom Hartwell, in "Christopher Brennan Saves the World" (2006), a cute story about a drive-thru attendant at Stars Drive-In, 17-year old Christopher Brennan, who has big ambitions about saving the world. Not only does he take food orders, but he gives personal advice to his customers in a show he calls "Chris's Drive-Thru Counseling." All of Seeley's hard work paid off in 2008 when her starred opposite Disney prodigy Selena Gomez in director Damon Santostefano's musical comedy "Another Cinderella Story" (2008), the story of a young man, who danced with what could be the girl of his dreams (Selena Gomez) at a costume ball, but only has one hint at her identity: the Ipod she left behind as she rushed home in order to make her curfew. And with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in front of him, he sets out to find his masked beauty. The film was one of the bright spots of an otherwise dull summer movie season.
Another big Hollywood break came for the actor in the starring role opposite Kevin Pollak and Cathy Lee Crosby, in the sci-fi thriller "Soulmates" (2008), about two young passionate star-crossed singer and songwriters that have been metaphysically dreaming about each other their entire lives, and eventually, and fatefully meet, to finally realize their destiny together. He wrapped his year in another starring role for the thriller "Shortcut" (2009), working next to Katrina Bowden in the story of a young man who is escorting his date home from the homecoming dance using a shortcut through the woods, when his intentions suddenly turn dark and he forces himself on her. When a little boy appears among the trees, she thinks he is there to help, but much to her surprise, he is there to kill them - and the legend of the shortcut is born.
